BUILT FOR BENEFICIARIES

SCRIPTURE READING: MATTHEW 7: 24-27

FOCUS: “24. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 26. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:” (Matthew 7: 24, 26)

MEMORY VERSE: “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.” (Proverbs 13: 22)

Our Focal Scripture speaks of the two men who built houses, one on the rock and another on sand. The word ‘house’ as used in that scripture comes from the Greek word ‘oikos’ which means ‘a dwelling or habitation of family’. So, these men didn’t just build for themselves alone; there were family members who were to partake. There were others tied to what the two men did; there were men who needed cover through both men.

Friend, whether you build rightly or wrongly, there are people tied to you who will be beneficiaries. There are people who will benefit if you do the right thing; there are also people who may suffer the consequences if you build the wrong way. There are people who will benefit from your prayer life if you choose to pray; there may also be others who are suffering because you have refused to pray.

For the man who built on the rock, what he built became a home for others. Hear me as I hear the Lord: what you build rightly will become a home for others. Your prayers will be a cover for those connected to you; your service to God will make room for your next generation; your seed and sacrifice will speak for those connected to you; your good name and goodwill will be an asset to those connected to you.

If you choose to be like that man that built upon the sand, then be careful, because there are people around you who will suffer for it. If you choose the path of sin and immorality, there may be consequences for people connected to you; if you choose to be an offender before God and men, there are people who will bear the brunt, perhaps in your life time, and even after you are gone from the earth. Your bad foundation has victims.

Don’t be counted among men whose faulty foundation became the nemesis of others. Build rightly, so that those connected to you will be beneficiaries of your right foundation.
